英國人最愛用的俚語 - 學校生活篇

1.Mate

經常用於親密關係。和好朋友說話的時候可以用，類似於美國人用的「buddy，pal，dude」。例如：'Alright, mate'

2. Bugger All

相當於「nothing at all」，只不過這個說法更通俗一點。例如：『I' ve had bugger all to do all day.'』

3. Knackered

用來形容一個很累，很疲憊，就是筋疲力盡的意思。例如：『I am absolutely knackered after working all day.』

4. Gutted

這個是英國俚語中最悲傷的表達方式之一，表示很悲痛。例如：『His girlfriend broke up with him. He’s absolutely gutted.』

5. Gobsmacked

難以置信，表示震驚。例如：『I was gobsmacked when she told me she was pregnant with triplets.（三胞胎）』

6. Cock Up

犯錯，而且這個錯誤比較嚴重。例如：『The papers sent out to the students were all in the wrong language – it’s a real cock up.』 也可以這麼用：『I cocked up the orders for table number four.』

7. Blinding

很棒，極好的。例如：『That tackle（截球） from the Spanish player was blinding.』

8. Lost The Plot

這個表達方式可以表示很憤怒，如果是過去式的話，那就表示一個人很荒謬可笑。例如： 『When my girlfriend saw the mess I』d made, she lost the plot.』

9. Cheers

這個在英國不同的郡有不同的意思。在有些地方就是朋友一起聚會喝酒時乾杯，但有些地方則表示感謝，就是 『thank you』的意思了。例如：『Cheers for getting me that drink, Steve』.

10. Ace

表示很精彩、優秀，也可以說考試大獲全勝。例如：『Jenny is ace at the lab experiments』； 也可以這樣說：『I think I aced that exam』.

11. Damp squib

字面上的意思就是「啞炮」，也就表示什麼事失算落空了。例如：『The party was a bit of a damp squib because only Richard turned up.』

12. All to pot

這個表達方式年代久遠，但至今仍然有人在用。表示情況失控。例如：『The birthday party went all to pot when the clown turned up drunk and everyone was sick from that cheap barbecue stuff.』

用來表示你很欽佩的人或事。例如：『She thinks Barry’s the bee’s knees』

14. Chunder

16. Bollocks

17. Fortnight

這個用法很多英國人都會用，表示兩周十四天。例如：『I』m going away for a fortnight to Egypt for my summer holiday.』

18. Bollocking

這個跟之前提到的『bollocks』 意思可不一樣，bollocking表示來自上司、同事或者是親人的責罵。例如：『My wife gave me a real bollocking for getting to pick up the dry cleaning on my way home from work.』

19. Nice one

表示諷刺意味，但是語境不同的話，也可以表示真誠的意思。例如：『You messed up the Rutherford order? Nice one, really.』

20. Brass monkeys

表示天氣很冷。字面意思就是冷得把銅猴都凍成球了。例如：『You need to wear a coat today, it’s brass monkeys outside.』

21. Dodgy

英國俚語裏，這個詞表示什麼事是錯的，非法的，或者是壞的。例如：『He just seems dodgy to me.』

22. Kerfuffle

這個表示意見不同的時候發生的衝突。例如：『I had a right kerfuffle with my girlfriend this morning over politics.』

23. Tosh

表示垃圾或廢話。例如：『That’s a load of tosh about what happened last night』還可以說： 『Don』t talk tosh.』

24. Wanker

這個是英國俚語中攻擊對方用的最「友善」的表達方式，和朋友開玩笑就可以用，比「Jerk」還要適用噢~例如：『That guy just cut me up in traffic – what a wanker.』

25. To pick up

表示不透過學習自然學會 , to learn naturally without study

例：You’ll pick it up.

26. To start out with

開始於…. the beginning of a series of events 一系列事件的開始

例：I’m going to start out with “gear.”

我將從“齒輪”開始。

例：When you make bread, you need to start out with all of the ingredients.

製作麵包時，你需要從所有成分入手。

27. To go over your head

無法理解 to not understand a complex idea 表示難以理解一個複雜的想法、超出理解範圍

例：All the hints are going over your head. 所有提示都讓人無法理解。

例：Because I studied this lesson, these 20 expressions won’t go over your head anymore!
